RV sites too close!

Goldfield RV Park – Sites a little too close!

The park is located just off Highway 24 between Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs and is centrally located to many Colorado tourist attractions. Old Colorado City is just a few blocks away within walking distance. You are also close to historic Manitou Springs, Pikes Peak, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls and many more. So there is an advantage to the location, but that is where the benefits come to an abrupt end.

Being negative is not my usual character, but in this case, I can’t help it! The hook-ups were suitable. Meaning we were able to run our air conditioner and everything else we needed with adequate electricity. BUT, those hook-ups were located in a very tight space between our site and our neighbor’s site. So close to one another that we could not even walk between our camper and theirs when the slides extended. I’m not exaggerating! When we pulled in, I had to get out of the pickup and knock on the camper door next to us to ask them if they would mind moving their outdoor rug. It was that close! We couldn’t park without running over their rug! We don’t mind being chummy with our neighbors, but that’s a little too intimate!

The website shows pictures of trees with nice motorhomes and travel trailers parked beneath. There were a few trees in one small area, but most of the campground looked more like a graveled car lot. There are no picnic tables (no place to put them).  They do have a bathhouse that looked o.k. on the outside, but I did not check them out. Something about the neighborhood just didn’t feel safe and we were thankful we only had two nights reserved. Due to the popularity of this region though, the park does stay booked in the summer.  There are other RV parks within a few blocks that may be a better bet.  If possible, we would suggest staying somewhere else. We will not return.
